This Is The Week

Earlier this week I quieted down in a place of reflection and considered the magnitude of Holy Week in light of Jesus. This prayer was my journaled response:

THIS IS THE WEEK, Lord Jesus, that you were praised by your people on the pathway into Jerusalem.

THIS IS THE WEEK that you were brutally assaulted and mocked on the Way of Suffering in that same sacred, sovereignly selected city.

THIS IS THE WEEK that you instructed your disciples to remain in you – that they (that we) might know the fullness of your joy.

THIS IS THE WEEK that you sorrowed and prayed with such angst that your brow beaded blood.

THIS IS THE WEEK that you fellowshipped with your friends in the presence of your betrayer… breaking bread and drinking wine…  initiating a sacrament that would remind us to remember what brings true life.

THIS IS THE WEEK that 30 pieces of metal brought betrayal and 33 years of perfect living were snuffed out for the sake of a dark, depraved and desperate people – whom you radically love.

THIS IS THE WEEK, precious LORD, that you spoke life to a dying, hanging criminal and took on death that whoever believes in you might take on life.

THIS IS THE WEEK when grave clothes were left behind and an empty tomb blew every mind.

THIS IS THE WEEK, Lord Jesus, that you robbed death of it’s sting – bringing beauty to what was broken forever and ever and ever.

THIS IS THE WEEK of the worlds’ greatest tragedy.

THIS IS THE WEEK of the worlds’ greatest victory.

THIS IS THE WEEK of our HOPE and on this Hope we stand… we sing… we live – this is a week of reflection… of resurrection… of redemption… of restoration.

Thank. You. JESUS!!
We remember. We repent. We rejoice! We celebrate with full hearts!
Amen.
