Unshakable Peace

Susan lived “the good life.” One filled with prosperity and love. For years, she and her husband owned a thriving business that allowed them and their children to be surrounded with beautiful material things. They had a glorious lake home, a lavish boat, and luxury cars. Everything the world counts as gain.

In spite of their earthly wealth, when faced with the truth of the Gospel, Susan and her husband realized that they were spiritually bankrupt and in desperate need of a Savior. Within months of each other, Susan and her husband both accepted Christ and began to thrive in newly found faith.

A few years into faith, Susan was squeezed by difficult circumstances. The family business took a turn for the worse and had to close its doors – leaving many friends and employees jobless. Then the IRS audited her husband. Scary legal ramifications threatened to crush them if large amounts of money were not paid to accommodate accounting debt.

They lost everything.

Financially ruined and emotionally stunned, Susan and her husband were forced to sell all that they owned.

Years later, they are still wading through the deep waters of financial strain. Their debts are far from being forgiven and the economy has grown progressively dim. Through the turmoil, Susan has been learning to trust in God as her Provider.

As she trusts Him, God faithfully fills her with supernatural peace, strength, and joy. She has experienced God’s provision through His Word, through His presence, and through her friends.

When her pantry has been empty, God knew. He sent friends to her home with bags of groceries and gift cards.

When her soul has been discouraged, God knew. He sent reminders of His promises and love through Scripture and through the encouragement of godly women.

Despite the fact that her bank account isn’t what it used to be and the days are still complicated, Susan considers herself to be wealthier now than ever because she knows the soul-level unshakable peace that is found in Jesus.

As the time of His betrayal and crucifixion approached, Jesus told his disciples that though they would grieve His death, their grief would be turned to joy. He encouraged them to believe all that He said and gave them a compelling promise. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). He promised His bewildered disciples that, in Him, they would have peace in the midst of trouble.

And how wonderful to know that His promise is valid for us too.

Psalm 16.8

No matter what you go through, you can experience unshakable peace, and declare, “I will not be shaken!” as the psalmist did in Psalm 16:8. God knows what you have been through and what you are going through. He promises peace to the believer through Jesus Christ.

Part of our unsettled nature is that we try to cling to the things of earth – to the “American way” of living – to the here and now. When we put our trust in things of this world, we give anxiety, fear, jealously, discontentment, greed, and insecurity open access to our lives. (1 Timothy 6:17-19)

Instead of finding ways to hold on to what you have, just let it go. Let go of what doesn’t matter. Even let go of those things which seem worth your worry. (TWEET THIS!

Do Not Worry

“So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:31-34, NIV)

Seek God first, friend … above and before any earthly thing, large or small. Have faith that He will meet you at your need. God wants you to store up treasures where moth and rust will not destroy.

Trust Him.

When you do, those around you will be inspired as you live with an unshakable peace that is beyond their understanding.

Dear Lord, I need your unshakable peace! Please forgive me for placing my trust and hope in things of this earth. As the psalmist David said, “Apart from You, I have no good thing.” Lead my soul to find rest in You and in Your perfect plan for my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.

God bless you for the Good work

    1. Dear Angelina, May God bless you. I, too, have and do suffer from great fear. I must learn every day to put my trust in God. Please read the great Psalm 91, it has many soothing and calming words, and you can believe they are true. Also, read 1 Peter, Chapter 5:6&7, Isaiah 41:10-14, and Proverbs 3:5 &6. These are some of the scriptures I read when I went through a tough time a couple of years ago. It was a time of change and upheaval, and I was very frightened and had to go through it alone. Reading these and other scriptures helped me through and brought me to a new and wonderful place in life. Please know that I will be praying for you. Contact me, if you need to talk or vent. All the best.

      Ruth

  18. I need God’s unshakable peace. I need to stop worrying and trust that He has my back. I always think back to Jeremiah 29:11. His plans for me are great.

  19. Today’s devotional hit the right chord. There are rumors of bankrupt where I work. Since I am on sick leave, post op, everybody is calling me and telling me about their fears. I try to remain calm and trust that the Lord is in control, but sometimes the stories can make you wonder what if? But today’s devotional just reminded me that He is my Pastor and I shall not fear. Thank you

  20. I need Christ’s unshakable faith… I want to be filled with His Grace and Strenght!! Ps16:9 No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety .

  21. Today this 28th day of April, I am redirecting my heart and thoughts towards unshakeable faith. The things of this world are temporary and I pray that I can remember this as I wade through the waters of a broken heart. My husband of 7 years has been unfaithful in our marriage. The lies keep unfolding trying to rob me of peace. I have kept the faith however I have been devastated to my core. In addition my daughter was due to come for a visit with my grandchild. She has cancelled her visit and has decided to stay at her mother-in-laws house and forgo her visit to my home because I do not meet her approval as far as accommodations of space, etc… I have done all I know to do to be the best I can and have gone the extra mile and then some, only to be treated with rejection and lack of empathy.
Today, I know that He is carrying me in and through all of this and I am grateful that I have fellow girlfriends in God to walk beside me that suffer as well and through it all are pledging to redirect our trust in Him

    2. Just lifted you and your children up in prayer. How devastating this must be for you. Have faith that in Romans 8:28 God tell us “And we know, that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” I know it must be very difficult to feel that right now but God is faithful and He will fulfill His promises.

    3. Praying now for peace and healing in your family’s life, Cheryl. Praying that the Holy Spirit will flood your heart with the knowledge that He is right there beside you. He loves you beyond measure and has a plan to prosper you and not to harm you. Rest in His amazing grace and trust that He WILL bring you through to better days.

    4. God is faithful and He sees everything. I pray that He will shine His face
upon you and show you His grace and abilities to act on your behalf.
Trust Him this day. He will fill the shoes of your husband and then some.
Praying along with others that your faith will not be uprooted that you will
remain in peace in the midst of this most difficult time and journey ahead.
      Love in Christ,
      Brigitte

  48. I need his unshakeable peace, I am redirecting my trust to him, father god I ask you to forgive me of my sins and keep me safe and protected from anything that is not of you

  49. This was so on time. I recently had a financial crisis and I called on the Lord, but my faith was not strong. Anxiety and fear started to take over even with all the praying and calling out to the Lord that I was doing. So I called on everyone else who in the end, weren’t able to help me at all.

In the end It was My God that made a way for me. He provided me with EVERYTHING that I needed to get out of the whole that I was in. I felt ashamed that I was “talking the talk” and not “walking the walk”. This word was so on time today. Thank You God for being my provider and loving me even with all of my flaws.

  50. I need unshakeable faith today! Lord I thank you for your peace and unshakeable faith! I have a lot of unanswered prayers that I know you are ready to answer. Thank you. In Jesus’s name, amen!

  51. “I NEED GOD’S UNSHAKABLE PEACE TODAY “. My family relocated to Florida 9 months ago and it seem to be taking unbelievable long for me to find employment. Our reserves are running low and my heart is sinking deeper into worry about our finial uncertainty. So I needed to hear this word today as a reminder that I can trust God to meet our needs .

  52. Day 2 of Girlfriends in God. I am redirecting my faith today. I am SOOO glad to have this devotional to start my day with. Thank you!

  53. I am redirecting my trust today. I have an awful tendency to worry and expect the worst, even with things I can’t control. But I’m learning to give all my worries to God because He is in control and I know His will is the best way. I’m learning to give Him all my fears and trust that He will continue to bless my family. I have a long way in learning to let go of things, but I believe today is a day to take some steps in the right direction ♡

    1. Hi Christy!
I’ll be praying for you today. I don’t know your circumstances, but God does! I too am in desperate need, but giving it to God, one day at a time, can help immensely! I know you’ll find some relief today! YOU CAN DO IT!

  54. Thank you for this timely reminder in my life. I choose, today, to re-direct my Faith to trust God with my life and that of my family. Amen

  55. Thank you Lord for providing unshakeable faith and providing us with a God who will meet my needs when my trust is placed in you.

  56. I need God’s unshakable faith, to stand strong in the world we live in it can only be on God’s unshakable faith, thank u Gwen Smith

    1. Mae! Hello!
It is scary to think about giving up control and putting our faith in God … but when you see all the things He has done in the lives of others, it’s more scary to NOT put our faith and trust in Him. One moment at a time, one problem at a time, one prayer at a time. You can do it and your relationship with God week grow into something you never thought possible! Dint be scared – we all have faith in you 🙂

  57. I need God’s unshakable faith because I had one biological child that died nine months ago of a asthma attack. You would think that boy the death of my only child would trump everything else, I could at least have a GREAT, KIND AND CONSIDERATE husband, Some wonderful stepchildren, Wonderful siblings who consider me before they ask or rather demand something. Well that’s not the case life goes on as usual and I am stuck in nine months and two days ago when I had the last conversation with my son. I NEED THIS UNSHAKABLE FAITH to go on, to keep moving forward to become unstuck and to get through the PAIN I need it today. Please grant my request LORD in Jesus name Amen

    1. Praying hard for you today Michelle! I can’t imagine that pain, but I know being stuck in a painful time when others can and have moved on. God knows. He sees. He feels it with you. Use that time to grieve and to heal and don’t leave God out of it. Share it with Him and the unshakable faith will come!

    2. Michelle;

I am moved by your loss and the pit that you are stuck in. Grief is messy, grief is hard, we all grieve in our own ways and in our own time. Sometimes it makes us feel we are all alone – that the whole world has moved on and left us behind…even those we thought we could rely on….we feel alone, angry, hurt, afraid, disappointed. But, I want to share a few verses with you. Know that when you feel alone God is right there with you! Pour out your heart to Him. Be honest with Him. Write a journal to Him. Spend time in the Psalms and find comfort there in David’s honesty and God’s provision. Ps 55: 16,17 and 22. Ps 62: 1,2 and 5-8. Ps 91:4. May you find refuge in God’s love for you, in his strength and under the shelter of his wings. May God encourage you today and give you strength as you walk through your grief. You are not alone – God is with you – you are loved!

  59. Oh, Gwen how I needed this today. Seeking God’s unshakable peace as my mother goes in this morning for surgery. Praying the cancer is contained, may our souls have that peace and faith like never before. God bless you for obeying the Lord and always sharing with me, exactly what I need. To Him be the Glory, forever.

  60. I read your unshakable Faith email today and I must say “I was most blessed just reading it”.
My middle son, has been fighting T-Cell Lymphoma Cancer since last Summer. Two separate rounds of devastating CHEMO.
After is first round, was in remission for less than 2 months, and it came back. Another STRONGER round and was (possibly still is)
    again in remission for that.
However, he was NOT healing, and getting worse as days went by.
Yesterday, he went into surgery for unknown problems in the bowels and smaller intestines. (The Dr was suspecting certain problems, but could not be sure until he went in.)
When he came out to talk with us, he confirmed what he had thought, and perhaps even more than he had thought.
He found another cancer (Colon Cancer) that had completely
blocked and perforated the walls, pressing against the bladder, but not having damaged it. What he could see of the cancerous Tumor was removed, along with a large section of the colon.
He has Stage 4 Colon Cancer.
He did say that the Chemo he had received for the T-Cell
had more than likely aggravated the colon cancer (which had been there & growing for several years).
The Bone Marrow transplant that had been scheduled for the
T-Cell treatments, would not be possible now, until the infection surrounding the Colon Cancer could be cleared up. Neither could any further Chemo be given for either cancer.
He has to heal now from this surgery, before any further treatments for cancer move forward. The infection surrounding the colon problems must be dealt with FIRST!
We had been told before the surgery, that the surgery was a very serious one, and could be fatal.
I told him, before he went in, that he would come through that surgery. I won’t go into ALL the details of how I knew, but it was related to a dream of one and a vision of another of his grandparents dating back to 1957 or 58.
    That had not yet happened.
Each one saw (& told my husband & I) of us having three Sons, singing together,
    FOR THE LORD.
At that time, only one son had been born.
My family has been severely severed for years now.
The Lord had been left out of most things through the years.
My husband died on Nov 16th, 2002, and my only daughter (Child #4) died on Nov 17th, 2010.

Yesterday, for the 1st time since my daughter died,
my 3 sons were in the same room together, and I saw tears in the eyes of each of them, when the middle son came back to the room following surgery.
He had come through this surgery, but has a long way to go
    towards recovery.
ONLY GOD and HIS Mercy and Healing powers can bring those
dreams & visions of 50 plus years ago, into reality here on this earth.
I know that each one will have to CHOOSE for themselves,
    what they will now do.
I pray that each one will Choose to follow the road that GOD
had foretold so many years ago.
This world has nothing to offer that GOD has not all ready
Offered in More abundance than anyone could even dream of.
    God has said “YOU CHOOSE”
I do not know what tomorrow will bring, but there is a Peace within that ONLY JESUS CHRIST could give me.
I THANK HIM that HIS WORD is forever TRUE, regardless of the circumstances which surrounds us.

    2. My you experience God’s peace snd grace in this difficult time, and my your son experience swift hesling in Jesus Name. Our grandson has been in remission for two years but last week got devastating news that it has come back, neuroblastoma! We need to pray and I need to redirect my trust in the Lord Jesus! Healing and financial break through?

    3. Wow, I am so sorry for the loss of your husband and daughter and for what your son is going through. I admire your faith. You are an inspiration. God bless you!

  61. I need God’s unshakeable faith today! I need His grace and patience and strength to help me and to remember that I am not good enough or strong enough to deal with all that I take upon myself. God bless all of you for your work x

  62. I need God’s unshakable faith. The world can be such a mess. There’s a great propensity to have doubts and fears. Help me live above the worries of this world and know that in you I can have everlasting peace??

  63. I remember lying in my room when I was in high school and writing in a journal to my future husband. I’d write all sorts of notes and questions and things I’d wonder or ask this man when I eventually met him. I would wondcalways been such a strong desire in my heart to find a wonderful man to marry, someone who would love me and cherish me and appreciate me for the person I am. I always thought I would get married right out of college, just like my parents, so when that plan didn’t work out, I started to get discouraged. A school mate snatched my future husband away from my arms just because she had spiritual powers, all hope was lost to me before i came across the help doctor (prayerstosaverelationship@gmail.com
) who i confided in, i told him my long story and he helped me regain back my lover with his prayers which is now my husband today. if you have any problem email the help doctor (prayerstosaverelationship@gmail.com

  64. I remember lying in my room when I was in high school and writing in a journal to my future husband. I’d write all sorts of notes and questions and things I’d wonder or ask this man when I eventually met him. I would wonder where he was and what he was doing and if he was thinking about me too. It has always been such a strong desire in my heart to find a wonderful man to mdarry, someone who would love me and cherish me and appreciate me for the person I am. 70. I am re-directing my trust today! In 1998 I lost my baby girl at 14 1/2 mo. due to a liver transplant. At times I’m still mad at God and want to trust my own ways. But I know deep down inside that God doesn’t always reveal the answers we are wanting to see/hear. Sometimes things just happen and God doesn’t need to explain to us why, because he does no wrong. It has shaken my faith but I’m turning around slowly to fallowing him again. I will trust him and I pray that my ears and eyes can see HIS WAYS! Show me Lord my purpose that you have for me in this earthly life. I need more of YOU and LESS of me. I pray this in JESUS name…the name above all names AMEN.

  71. I need God’s unshakable faith and peace! Battling things in my mind for some time now and pray that I can re-direct my heart, focus and faith back to Him and remember that His love never fails even in the mist of any darkness or depression I’m feeling. I need Him more than I need anyone or anything else. I’m praying this today, Psalm 16:11 NLT “You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever”
Thankyou Lord for who you are!

  72. I’m in need of God’s unshaken faith! I need it I need it. I wait in quiet hope for God’s help. He is my only source of hope. My help comes only from You Lord. The Maker of heaven and earth. I need Your unshakeable faith Father and I redirect my trust to You.
God please bless each prayer request and grant your comfort peace healing and deliverance in Jesus Name. Amen.

  73. Wow. I lost everything too recently. It is humilitating and horrifying to lose things, driver license, job, house up for sale and car repo, maxed out 401’s. weight But it is showing me that God is not in my life like I wanted to believe or others to think. I feel smothered by this world but pray that I will be uplifted out of this mess and today trust and love God. All this time God was providing for me yet I was complaining and murmuring and not putting Him first but myself and others, THINGS. I developed reflux so bad and my mind begin to cause me to self destruct not because of just the things but also the fear of the spirit of God leaving me. He has always taken care of me yet I was not focused, acknowledged him or praised Him for all I had but focused on what others had or said and did. Their approval. I ended up at my parents house in the country with no car, finances or true independence. But I still had family, roof, food, clothing and church and still complaining. sickening how wretched I am. I am redirecting my trust to God too. I NEED JESUS in my life again period. I see I never received His love for me. Satan not having my soul, life, family. I pray to God divine love and redirection. I am hesitating to post this as the devil wars with my mind to really do this. Unbelievable.

  85. I am re-directing my trust today. This story could have been about my husband and I. Four years ago the exact thing happened to us. And to this day the IRS is relentless. Each day I pray for God’s provision and thank him in advance. Now I want to re-direct my trust by not hiding behind the four walls of our home. We live high in the Rockies, so it is easy to be a hermit. Slowly but surely I am coming out of the depression. Not hiding quite as much. We have been blessed with good friends…and our needs are always met. It is the shock and humiliation of losing everything that took us both by the neck and strangled the strength right out of us. The Lord is great and greatly to be praised and he is helping me day by day, probably in ways I cannot see.

  86. I need God’s unshakable faith! I am unemployed right now. I decided to go back to school to pursue a different career. I am in need of finances right now. God has brought me this far. I know that He will not fail me. I accept His unshakable faith!
