QUOTES & NOTES:

Compassion alumni Keewani Cook joins to share her testimony of how the Lord used the ministry of Compassion to help release her from poverty as a young child.

Currently there are  250,000 children waiting for new sponsors.

Born to a poor family, Kiwi was born to an alcoholic father, who eventually came to know Christ by picking up a tract.

The word of God says nothing is impossible with God. And her dad went sober cold turkey. He was transformed!

A man decided to sponsor her, telling her she's loved and beautiful and wondered if this is what God thought of her. This made her seek God even more.

Even though she was experiencing deep poverty, Kiwi knew that God had great plans for her and her family. She read Jeremiah 29:11:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

She knew God would have great plans for her and this was not it for her.

When Kiwi was in high school, she really desired to go to college. But Compassion Int didn't have a college program. Her mom told her to pray that God would provide.

Compassion told her they were starting a new program to send kids to college and she would be one of the first 42 students to go to college and have everything fully paid for.

After graduating from college, she prayed to meet her sponsors. A group of sponsors came from Australia and asked her to give her testimony. And she actually got to meet her sponsor! She was so full of gratitude thanking them how they changed her life.

After she got married, she invited her parents to come to the United States and took them to an apple orchard. Her dad was on the ground picking up apples. She told her dad, “No dad, God has blessed us so much, exceedingly, abundantly, more than we could ask or think, that we are now able to pick up apples from the tree.”

“Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

Kiwi knows that God took her out of poverty to help bless others. God’s going to get you through whatever situation you’re in because he’s going to use that story for his glory. He’s going to use us to release other people from poverty too.
