Hey, friend. Happy Friday! It’s GUEST POST and GIVEAWAY day! 🎉

Today my friend KELLY BALARIE is sharing an excerpt from her brand new book, BATTLE READY. Kelly is the kind of girlfriend I call when I need someone to stand in the gap for me. She is a prayer warrior and a massive encourager. I had the opportunity to read through BATTLE READY before it was released and I wrote this endorsement:

Though nothing can replace the Word of God to renew your mind, in her book, Battle Ready, Kelly Balarie shares both Scripture and personal stories in a relatable way that helps increase your courage and confidence. Battle Ready gives practical directives to show you how God wants to meet you in each struggle to help, teach, and train your soul with truth strategies that empower. If you are longing for renewal and want to experience real transformation, then this is the perfect book for you.

This excerpt is short but hearty. Effective to open eyes and point hearts to the fearless, limitless One who fights on our behalf. Enjoy! And don’t forget to leave a comment so you have a chance to win one of the free copies!

How to Start Seeing from Jesus’s Angle

Many of us see what we:

…have always seen.

…expect to see.

…want to see (because it keeps things easy).

For example, some of us hate broccoli because we always have. We have no friends because we think we’re a stinky friend.

Truth is, we haven’t given broccoli a chance ever, nor friendship in ten years.

Many times we don’t see change because we don’t really want to.

What do you expect to see? What one-way story is alive in your mind?

We don’t want to live like the journalists of this age. We want to avoid writing one-way, slanted stories of our own. Why? Because our loud opinions tend to speak over God’s quietly unfolding story.

Plus, we only see an inch of the angle God does. We see a person’s actions; God sees that person’s thousand yesterdays, what He’s got up His sleeve for their tomorrow, how meanly their brother treated them, and the mighty restoration He has coming for them five days from now. He’s working in them. Or maybe He is doing work in you.

Either way, just because we cannot immediately see that God is working doesn’t mean He isn’t.

Let’s not be spiritually blind.

We want to see from Jesus’s angle by considering people’s histories, looking into the heart of the matter, and giving space for new understanding. Beyond this, Jesus’s life and time of testing teaches us specific ways to see from His angle during even the hardest of times. Let’s take a look. . . .

  • Satan held out stones before Jesus. Jesus was physically hungry.

Satan tempted him with bread (Matt. 4:3). While I am sure Jesus’s flesh wanted to change those stones to bread,

He didn’t.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life angle: Jesus spoke God’s Word back to the accusing voice. He also focused on God’s complete nourishment rather than a quickly devoured piece of bread. Jesus chose what was lasting and kingdom-valuable.

  • The devil unveiled the vast and beautiful Holy City, then told Jesus to throw himself down (Matt. 4:6). Might Jesus have wanted to prove God’s power? Might He have thought about all the doubters, the people who didn’t believe, and wanted to prove Himself?

The Way, the Truth, and the Life angle: Jesus kept His eyes on His mission. Our mission is to live full of faith, hope, and love, at all times and in all ways.

  • Satan displayed the kingdoms of the world to Jesus. He offered them to Jesus, if only He would “bow down and worship” him (Matt. 4:9).

The Way, the Truth, and the Life angle: Jesus replied to the devil, “You must worship the Lord your God.”

Sometimes we have to adamantly say no to a destructive relationship or a voice that is contrary to God’s. We may need to say within our mind, No, I do not accept that as truth. We are not obligated to agree with everything people say. However, we may be wise to forgive if we feel hurt. Our aim should be to proceed with love.

What new angle might you need to consider?

What kind of risk is involved in approaching it differently?

  1. I think every woman ( myself included) has to be prepared for battle. Much of the time with ourselves. We are own worst enemy!

  2. I would love to read your new book ! A friend referred you to me she is a counselor helping me through my grief of my daughter’s death last June! I lost both parents my mom in 2015 my daddy in November 2016 my daughter June 2017! I believe this book possibly could be very helpful to me and others! 💙📘💙

  3. I would love a copy of this book because I love to learn about strategies when it comes to defeating our enemy.

  4. I am going through a battle right now it’s going on a now. Long story short. I got hurt at work so I’m going through workman’s comp. Just had surgery. So I think this book would help me out and encourage me to continue going forward.

  5. As I sit here with my email, I am composing a required response to an HUD investigation begun by a neighbor charging me with discrimination based on her accusation that I called a home health agency and told the agency that she was faking her cancer.
I have been an RN for over 40 years and I listened and comforted this neighbor when she found out that she had a melanoma and then when she found that it had metastasized to brain cancer. She has several brain surgeries and other treatment and has lived several years since the discovery of her cancer.

She has always had difficulty speaking the truth and nothing but the truth, but has been harassing me since 2011. Before the discovery of her brain cancer. I have turned the other cheek a number of times. I have prayed and prayed for Christ to help her see truth.

As a nurse, I have spent my career caring for and comforting people and I did not make such a statement to the home health agency or anyone else. Along with other neighbors, I put her in my prayers.

The pain she has caused me through her years of lies and the intense new pain of this false accusation are weighing on me night and day. She has made other false accusations about other neighbors and now using this free method to declare discrimination against her, she is even costing our home owner association $ in attorney fees. I know that the Devil is working right here on my street.

Thank you for something to read to help me process this horror and keep my faith strong.

  6. I really need this book!!!! I deal with fear and that’s keep me in the same place even though I want to move on.

  7. This book sounds amazing. My daughter has been struggling and this would be something I could help her with, we can read together . Satan loves to attack our thoughts and pray on our weakness. It something we all struggle with, but watching your child struggle is hard. I feel this book would bless me and my family Thank You

  12. In reading there are a few scriptures that come to mind. Matthew 11:12, Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 10:9, and Hebrews 11:1, and finally Psalms 23.

  13. I am not expecting to win this free book, but I am having a bad day (and it’s not even 10 am!) I just needed to spill my heart! Deep down I want to be battle ready but at the point I feel like I am useless in trying. I am so tired of fighting battles on my own, yet feel God must be so disappointed in me, that I am a lost cause. I have lost my ambition, my joy, my resolve, and feel I may as well just lay down and accept things as they are. My church is going through the life of David and I pray God will do a transformation in me because I certainly need it. I feel it is too late for me to change anything in my marriage, my relationship with God, and my family issues. I don’t expect things to be easy, yet find myself zapped of any energy to fight.

    1. Father God, thank you for Kathie. Thank you for her realness and her heart to share. Thank you that there is abundant grace and mercy under the cross of Jesus. Thank you, Jesus, that you died for sinners and not perfect ones. Thank you God, that no matter where any of us stand, each one of us is a work-in-progress. Pour out your love and grace on sister Kathie. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  14. WOW…”we only see an inch of the angle God does. We see a person’s actions; God sees that person’s thousand yesterdays, what He’s got up His sleeve for their tomorrow, how meanly their brother treated them, and the mighty restoration He has coming for them five days from now. He’s working in them. Or maybe He is doing work in you.”…this is an eye opener for me to be more observant of the deep down issues someone may be having and not just look at the surface. Thank you!

  15. The excerpt has powerfully introduced the God-perspective to issues that we are always embroiled in. I am so encouraged by the sharing and biblical principles highlighted in the book. Very often the mind needs renewal by focusing on His Word that sets us free from sin-riddled thoughts.

  16. “Many times we don’t see change because we don’t really want to.” Hit me square in the face!!!! I would love to win this!!!!

  17. Wow! Battle Ready is a huge win for all of us who long to follow JESUS!
Thank you, Kelly for your faithful passion to equip, encourage and inspire women to live fully for God.

  18. I would love to receive your free book Battle Ready. I have been in a spiritual battle for several years and realize that I cannot fight this battle. I would love to gain some incites as to how to continue on in this midst of this battle.
    Thank you

  19. To forgive, love, and see as Jesus did, that is a challenge I will accept. I know He has me in His hands and His heart. His grace will see me through it all, all the forgiving I must do of myself and of others.

  20. An 8 year battle to love and live in peace with an angry, abusive adopted son has brought me to a place of being worn down and ashamed that I can’t get past wanting him out of my life. I know that God is greater & can heal my family! Please pray for restoration and victory in our relationships!!

  21. I really want to conquer the challenges of life, instead of giving up. I want to defeat the doubt in my mind that God hears my prayers. I want to live victoriously and joyously instead of miserably and downtrodden.
My faith is strong, but maybe I need this book?

    1. New friend, I assure you (as a big doubter) you can conquer the doubt. God WILL help you. He can renew and transform your mind in powerful ways. I am praying for you now.

  22. This is such a good message to take back to teaching school in the fall. I see the child’s behavior in class, but don’t know their whole story. Remembering to look for the whole child, that they too are a child of God, and tempering my response to challenging behaviors makes a huge difference in meeting a child’s needs.

  23. I have to put in the work of getting the knowledge of the word in my heart and accept that maybe that the missing catalyst in my so desired transformation.

  24. This looks like a great book… I would love to read this!!! Thanks for the opportunity to possibly when this! 🙂

  25. “Battle Ready” sounds like just the type of book I need to read now. I am trying to increase the amount of time I spend studying the Bible and reading God’s Word and I need some encouragement.

    Thanks!

  26. I’d love to win a copy! It sounds like my new season’s must read. . . sometimes I just need a little nudge and maybe this was it! I’m on my college break and could use some more direction and perhaps a new book.

Two thoughts I’d like to know more about:
    – exchange self-limiting thoughts for purpose-driven, love-releasing thoughts
    – implement thirty-second mind-lifters that deliver peace

Thanks for this opportunity to win one.

  27. Thank you for sharing this excerpt from the book. I truly desire my perspective to become more like Jesus’s. I have been in an emotionally abusive relationship for awhile now and due to being very isolated, my perspective is not what it should be. God has placed within my heart a desire to correct my thinking and move forward in His love and care. God Bless You.

  28. Thank you so much for the chance to win a copy of Battle Ready. Definitely a book I look forward to reading.

  29. It is so difficult to conquer challenges and defeat doubt daily! Some days it’s easier than others but it is truly a daily journey! I would love to have this book as another tool to help me live victoriously daily!

  30. Thank you for this reminder to stay focused on the mission! It is so frustrating that my good intentions to be fconstantly ocused on Christ is so easily forgotten the moment distractions present themselves.

  31. Seems like a very informative, applicable, inspiring and interesting book. Excited to read more! Thanks for sharing! 🙂

  32. I’ve been doing a Bible study with a small group of friends about spiritual warfare. The battle is very real, and I’m realizing more and more that knowing how to put on the full armor of God and using the weapons He has supplied for us is definitely a learning process. This book sounds as if it would be a tremendous help in understanding more about being prepared for the battle.

  33. I have been married for 43 years and have been battling stinkin thinkin most of my adult life due to a brutal beating and rape. I have held onto anger and bitterness and fear and have taken it out on my husband. We have separated many times a d most recently nearly divorced. I need to change me and the way I think and I know I am in a battle of the mind. I would love a copy of this book it sounds amazing g!

    1. The battle is in the mind, as you wisely state, Rachel. Jesus is Overcomer, Conqueror, Redeemer and Restorer. I have 100% belief that He can and will tend to your heart in healing ways. Be encouraged, dear one.

  34. Hi, my name is Dena Cottrell and I’m battle ready. So many doubts in my life right now. The struggles I’m facing. It seems easier to turn away from God. But I know it isn’t right. He never turned away from me.

  35. It’s easy for me to grow blinders and see things in a small, narrow way. This passage from the book was helpful in opening up my vision. I look forward to reading the whole book!

  36. This is so awesome. We just had VBS at our Church. Our theme was Battle Ready!
We purchased Battle Ready T-Shirts from Kerusso.
Our lesson Plan was 1 Samuel 17 – Trust God with your battle ( David & Goliath)
Joshua 6 – Be obedient to God during your battle, ( Battle of Jericho)

Ephesians 6: 10 -20 Always be ready for a battle, (Armor of God)
I wish I could up load our theme Clip Art to the comments. It was a cross with Camo and it Says Soldiers for Christ. We had music to go along with lesson, Song Surrounded by Micheal W. Smith, The main lyrics goes, It May look like I’m surround but I’m surrounded by you. This is how I fight my battles.
Thank you Jesus, that the battles we face everyday, WE OUR SURROUNDED BY YOU.

  37. I am battling a relationship with my husband who I chose to move out from. Hoping that I can understand where he is coming from with regards to his past and how I can proceed with love for him and still be healthy myself. Thank you for the excerpt.

  38. Love what I’ve heard and read about this book so far! Would love to have the opportunity to read from beginning to end.

  39. Great book. We all need to learn to stand in the gap for others! This book would be excellent to pass along to those we need to support during their troubling times. I plan to use it with my Stand in the Gap mentoring program.

  40. I don’t want to get in the way of or limit how God is fighting for me just because I can’t see it with my earthly eyes!! This book sounds like it has great guidance on how NOT to do that!!

  41. Sounds like a wonderful book!! I am part of my church’s Sunday morning prayer team and overall prayer team. I truly believe standing in the gap got people.

  42. Eye opening read! Thought she was looking into my life and talking to me! I love the lists and homework to do. Very exciting breakthrough!!!

  43. I think this book would be good for anyone to read! Don’t we all struggle with being eternal minded, when what is right before our face so easily distracts?

  44. This book is for me and the women I lead at my home church in Louisville, KY! Can’t wait to read it in its entirety!!

    Blessings!
    Kim

  45. Sounds like an awesome book! I could use this – I’ve been praying for God’s work in me – I want to be the mom who is able to inspire my daughters to be God seeking in all they do. Please pray for me.

  46. This blog was so good today. I have been reading Sheila Walsh’s book In the Middle of the Mess. A very real and relatable life lesson, but then this book sounds like the perfect next step. First you need to see the mess/problem or wrong thoughts or hidden feeling then you can truly battle it. Thank you for sharing.

  47. I’m ready to tackle — Battle Ready is a read I’m ready to fortify me spiritually. Where have you been all of my life.
    Ever

  48. Greetings Gwen Smith, thanks for sharing words of encouragement with Kelly new book.

Have a beautiful New God day.

    Triumphantly,
    Evelyn

  49. Just now getting back into the “friend” zone after raising my children. Would so like to read this book.

  50. I want to be battle ready daily wearing the armor of God, His truths engraved in my memory to face each challenge, fear, activity, day and ALL things with the truth, positivity, and light that my Father has so graciously bestowed upon little ole’ Monkey Me.

  51. This is so relevant in my life right now. 25 years In a career that became my identity. The identity that the world defines as what a successful woman should look like. I was miserable and my faith, family and health were paying the price. I prayed for direction and guess what I resigned my executive position. I am trusting in the Lord to help me find the direction I need to go. It is a little scary and that ole devil puts tempting forks in the road everyday and old doubts and weaknesses. Daily reading and spending time with Jesus is what us keeping my focus. Kelly’s book will be a great way to keep me going. Thank you for sharing

  52. I totally enjoyed podcast! Especially the apart about humility. “That humility is not always about holding back or staying quiet but sometimes it’s about the stepping out!”
    Loved, Loved, Loved that!

I too am a girl with big personality and like Kelly sometime I feel like I have to hold back so others can accept me.
But God DID create me to be big and bold and so who am I to hide it. It should be used to bring glory to His Name! Again, so good I had to pass along to a friend.
Thank you for being who He created you to be Kelly- it is truly an encouragement!

    1. God made you – you – Rhonda, for such a good reason. Shine your brilliant self. To step out in that fear is often the exact humility God loves. When we are free to be us, that is usually where we feel humbled or exposed. I cheer you on.

  53. Reading your message each day inspires me to continue to pray without ceasing & strive toward the prize!

  54. I would like to read the entire book. I work with a small group of boys who just graduated from high school. This a a bible study group. I try to help them be battle ready to go forward as they write new chapters in their book of life. This would be excellent for me and them.

people and encourage them to keep looking to God in all our battles and to find hope and strength and courage when we think we are at rock bottom!!
I struggle with many health issues one being fibromyalgia. I am a breast cancer survivor. I have had a bad childhood. I have been diagnosed with bipolar 2, PTSD, and have anxiety and depression issues. I would love this book to help me change my way of thinking

  65. I love the line “give space for new understanding”! THAT’S what God is calling me deeper into today. So, here i go! Thanks for the encouragement!

  66. I have recently been plagued by a lot of uncertainties and God has been by my side and in my life once allowed myself to Let Go and Let God. Your excerpt from your book really opened my eyes even more as I was so intrigued by looking at Jesus’s Angle. Thank You, it was so Refreshing.

  67. I just listened to the podcast with you two! I’d love to win this book! Everybody needs help being Battle Ready!

  68. I could really use help with training my thoughts to be battle ready. Yesterday my husband was diagnosed with cancer & although I feel I have great faith, all I can think about is the what ifs. Instead of fighting, I am retreating-even though I know I am moe than a conqueror in Jesus.

  69. I have a friend who wants to do a group study on the book Battle Ready!
Would love to win a copy to do it with them. We all need step by step spiritual encouragement. thanks

  70. My battle I am facing is cancer & to face it with a new transformation of faith & trust would be such a blessing, rather than worry & fear. I know God’s got this but my mind always seems to wonder back to the old way of thinking. It can be such a waiting game & battle of the mind, not to mention body.
Winning this book would be such a blessing, thanks for this opportunity!
Actually, I don’t need to be going through cancer to know how valuable this book would be for everyday life as satan is always trying to trip me up, I’m just much more vulnerable right now.
God Bless & I am happy for whoever is the lucky winner 🙂

  71. Our church is starting a message on spiritual warfare. This book would be a great compliment to it. Thank you, Kelly! Very inspiring!

  78. Thank you for sharing. I feel I’m being held back by what my responsibilities as a wife and a mother stand for in Gods eyes. Marriage is sacred to me
. I came from a devorsed household and it was a terrible experience. I don’t ever want my kids to feel that. , but I also know my relationship with my husband is unhealthy. I don’t know what to do right now. Maybe this book can help me take the next step that God wants me to take. All I can do at this point is pray.

  79. I love looking at things in a new light – a new way. We sometimes get in a rut about how we live and how we view things. It’s challenging to read about how we might live totally different by studying God’s word and looking at it from a different angle. I am currently reading a book with a group of mentoring ladies from our church called All Things New by John Eldredge. It is a totally new concept (or angle) of heaven. It is fascinating. I would love to have this book to share with our group and maybe use it as a study. Thank you for sharing this new concept for me this morning.

  80. This sounds amazing. So many of us don’t realize how much we can truly get off track and need to be as perfect as you put it, Battle Ready! This is going to be an amazing read! Thanks for sharing it with us.

  81. I love how you showed how to refute the lies of then enemy with the truth of the word of. Simple and Practical applications are so important and work the best in the middle of a fight.

  82. I would love a copy of this book to share with my daughter, who is going thru some struggles right now. Plus I would love to read it myself. thanks for the opportunity

  83. It seems as if I’ve been in battle my whole adult life. Weary. I would love to gain a fresh perspective, and be “Battle Ready”, Gods way.
I would love to have this book ❣️🙏🏼🙏🏼

  84. This sounds like a great book. I pray daily to be able to withstand the wiles of the enemy because walking and living from a place of victory is so important. It sounds like this book would offer some fresh perspective on living victoriously.

  85. This book really sounds like it’s something I need to read soon! I would be so grateful for some free copies.

  86. Sometimes I feel so scared and worried. I know that God has God it. I so need Him to direct my ways. I so need His battle plan in my life. I would be so ever thankful to have a copy of this book. I Need a Battle plan. Thank yo.

  87. Greetings in Jesus’ Name! I really appreciate this article. Thank you for sharing it. I especially like these statements: “He also focused on God’s complete nourishment rather than a quickly devoured piece of bread. Jesus chose what was lasting and kingdom-valuable.” I want to do this. 🙂 May continue to bless you all richly.

  88. Beautiful excerpt! Speaks to how life has felt for a number of years. Would love the chance to read her whole book!

  89. Would love to read this book, looking forward to the opportunity to understand
the power of prayer in an more in depth way. Good luck on the new book and praying it will be a big success and help to all that have the opportunity to read it.

  90. This book sounds amazing! We definitely have to resist the voice of Satan and strive to do and be all that God desires of us. Thank you Gwen for the wonderful devotions! I always enjoy them and they bless my life so much! God bless!

  91. I LOVE Kelly B! I relate to her so much. Almost everything she writes is as if I was writing it. We share so many of the same struggles. I love her genuine love and concern for others and her intensity of encouragement! I NEED this book! 💕

  92. I feel like I am always in constant battle about something and no one else seems to care about things the way I do. I believe this book will help me to understand which battles are mine and which ones to walk away from.

    1. Hi, Cynthia 🙂 It would indeed be very good to know “which battles are mine and which ones to walk away from.” Thank you for sharing.

  93. I would love to learn to look at things differently and risk following God’s plans rather than limiting myself by my own insecurities and fears and listening to the enemy’s lies rather than the truth in God’s Word.

    1. Hi, Cherie! Praise God for you. I, too, would like what you have shared here – to “look at things differently and risk following God’s plans rather than limiting myself by my own insecurities and fears and listening to the enemy’s lies rather than the truth in God’s Word.” Amen! Thank you for your comment.

  94. This sounds incredibly helpful in the battle of spirirual warfare. I would love to win a copy of this!
    Thanks for doing these giveaways!

  95. This is such a strengthening message. It is difficult some days to be. battle ready. These words are so encouraging at a time most needed. Thank you.

  96. This is amazing i can’t wait to read this book. I have been asking God to show me how to see people in my life the way he does and how to love them way he does. This will be a must read for me.

  97. What a great title! I have learned life can very much be a battle, yet sadly we often battle the wrong things/people in our lives. While the real enemy is Satan. However, we can’t fight an enemy we don’t recognize. Realizing who that enemy is and proceeding as Jesus would is the way. Look forward to reading your book!

    1. Hi, Allison! Yes, “sadly, we often battle the wrong things/peopl in our lives.” That is something of which we need to be aware and be dependent on Holy Spirit to
reveal to us where the true battle lies. I want to be more aware of this. Thank you very much for sharing.

  98. Oh wow! Hard to pick just one thing to comment on. From the beginning of the excerpt, I felt drawn right in. This is what I need for this time in my life. To hold onto hope. To have courage to say no. To stay in God’s presence. To seep myself in his Word. In these crazy crazy times we live in, we all need to support each other to keep walking the walk so that we do not get weary. Thank you for writing a book that will encourage and support us.

    1. Hi, Bev! I smiled big at your statement about needing “all the ammunition possible to live the life God intended for me.” Me, too! 🙂 May we see it clearly in our lives, and by Hold Spirit use it effectively and effeciently. God bless you!

  99. I read Kelly’s Devotion everyday, she is so real and struggles just like me. She inspired me when I am feeling down and worthless! I would Love to win a copy of her new book!

  100. So happy to see another amazing book for women of faith! Would love to add this to my collection so that I am “Battle Ready”!

  101. We must always be suited up and on guard, Satan never takes a day off. The battle is a constant struggle! But Jesus is our champion! I would love to read the rest of this battle plan 😊 Pam Harris

    1. Yes, Ginger – me, too. I magnify things in my mind, and I also tend to look too far ahead. I really want that to change, as it causes fear, anxiety and more. 🙁 Praying we and others will be strengthened in our inner men to take our thoughts right to Jesus, as in 2 Corinthians 10:5. Read verses 3-7. Check out verse 7 (NASB) “You are looking at things as they are outwardly. If anyone is confident in himself that he is Christ’s, let him consider this again within himself, that just as he is Christ’s, so also are we.” This seems to go with Kelly has shared. 🙂 God bless you!

  102. I thoroughly enjoy reading your girls daily posts and have recently bought a couple books. I have already pondered buying this one and am so trying to grow in faith. Would love to have this addition to my others.

  103. As Christians we strive for Holiness and work through our sanctification daily! We want to be like Jesus when we carve more pure spiritual milk and allow the Holy Spirit work in our lives!

  104. This is so what I needed to read this morning. It has been a rough week and I have been really struggling to feel “good enough”, strong enough and just plain battle ready. I really just want to lay down and let go for just a few. Reading this is helping me find the strength to get back into the “battle”. Thanks.

  105. I realize that one of Satan’s stomping grounds is our minds. Is love to receive a free copy of the book. Blessings

  106. I have been meeting with a group of women and we have done much work realizing whose we are…this excerpt from this new book sounds like this would be a great reminder of those things we have learned as we have been meeting together. The paragraph that reads…Plus, we only see an inch of the angle God does. We see a person’s actions; God sees that person’s thousand yesterdays, what He’s got up His sleeve for their tomorrow, how meanly their brother treated them, and the mighty restoration He has coming for them five days from now. He’s working in them. Or maybe He is doing work in you.
Wow…thinking this may be the direction we go next…equipping women for the battle…thanks for sharing your heart…

    1. Hi, Pam! The passage from the devotion which you highlighted spoke to me also. I want to see as much as God wants me to see -nothing more, nothing less. Does that make sense? I want to see how God sees, with His heart, with great love and compassion. Thank Him for Holy Spirit who helps us do just that. 🙂

  107. I want to be Battle Ready!! Thank you, Kelly and Gwen for the chance to win a copy of “Battle Ready” by Kelly Balarie.

  108. Three of my devotions this morning have concentrated on spiritual warfare. It is real, present, and we must be ready, armed as in Ephesians 6.

  109. Yes, “ready” is where you need to place your heart. More recently, I have been bruised by losses in my life, losing my Sister within two weeks of learning she had become seriously ill. Losing a treasured friendship, with a woman of God, why I do not fully comprehend, yet within both losses, I have a choice to make. Do I fall deeper into the deception from the enemy of our souls and hide my spirit in the ebbs of hurt and fear, misunderstanding, or do I choose to run faster, run harder, run more freely towards all the life has to bring in, refining, deepening, making me more conscious of Christ, who He is and that in His Death, we gained life. We are all torn, and bruised when sudden losses breach the banks of our heart. Yet we can shrink back and lose too a piece of ourselves in the process, or chooses to embrace, the memories of the blessings of their lives entwined with our for a season, for a moment, for a building, not a tearing down. Losses are never easy, they bring pain, and heartache. Yet I have come to push onward, onward, in faith, trusting not in what was lost, but in what was taught, lived, in the moments, in the memories, in the times, we shared. I choose to release, renew, my broken heartstrings, and sing harder, laugh harder, choosing to release, all to Him, to the Lord of All, my Savior, my true Anchor in the Storm, my forever friend, stepping out, reaching out, living, breathing, a little more, a little harder, living, yes living, sharing my heart again, touching love, embracing love, and thanking God for the gifts, yet more importantly seeking to give more, live more, embracing the journey as I go.

    1. Wow, Laura! What a good word for all of us!!! May we respond to difficulties as you share here. Thank you so much for sharing with us. May God continue to richly bless you and your loved ones. May we be strengthened in our inner men to run to Jesus in times of difficulty, and let Him give us our responses, moving forward in faith, and hope. Because of Jesus, Cindy

  110. I’d love to win a copy of “Battle Ready”! And I promise to pass it along to my friends who need to be Battle Ready, too!

  111. I would love to win this giveaway! Even in this short excerpt I saw an important key to the battle. Worship the Lord. The enemy will flee. Do it always and he will stay away. It sounds so easy yet when my days are exhausting I don’t always keep the worship momentum going. I am a work in progress.

    1. Yes, Dawn, we are all works in progress. 🙂 Praise God for His patience and perservence with us, and His pursuit of us. Thanks for the reminder that Worship of our Lord is an important key in the battle. He is so very good to us. May He continue to richly bless you.

  112. Wow–this really hits home “What one-way story is alive in your mind?” The battle is real for sure! Really need to read this book as I need to be much more aware of what & where the battle is, & to become battle ready, instead of always battle weary! I love Kelli’s writing!

  113. The excerpt from Battle Ready reminded me of the song by Brandon Heath “Give Me Your Eyes”. I am looking forward to reading this book.

  114. What an amazing and timely book. I am Battle Ready. I want to be a world changer. And what a great birthday gift this would be if I won! Monday is my 50th birthday!

  115. The battles in our mind can come from abuse physically or the mental anquish of toxic people spreading their poison into others lives. I look forward to Kelly’s insights from Gods word, from Whom healing & deliverance come

  116. Going through a real testing time in my life and need some solid ways to be Battle ready for the spiritual warfare I am dealing with so I would love to win this book!

  117. I work on “perspective taking” with my students who have autism and I like framing this as “taking a Heavenly perspective”. Looking at situations through a lens of Scripture is so critical to our lives because the enemy lurks and tempts all the time. We must test words and situations through God’s word.

  118. Love it!! We must always be battle ready because our enemy is constantly trying to discourage us God girls! But we serve the King who has defeated all! 🙌🙌 Greater is He that is within us than he whp is in the world!

  119. I would love to receive Kelly’s book on renewing my mind. I have had a struggle getting back into the workforce after caring full-time for 2 parents with Alzheimer’s. I would love to get some practical help with renewing my mind, to more clearly reflect God’s thoughts toward me and my world. As in Jer. 29:11 – His thoughts to bring me to an expected end. I want to learn to more consistently think His thoughts. I loved Kelly’s book, Fear Fighting, but I loaned it to a friend who is still reading it. I love receiving Gwen Smith’s encouraging words, and I want to sign back up for Kelly’s blog, which I stopped receiving. Thank you for entering me into this free giveaway.

  120. The title is good!
I think we can never have enough strategy or armor to fight satan. Jesus has already won the battle. However, satan will not give up. I could use a boost. How can I be a better warrior? Am I able, a.m. I strong enough, when will I have to not struggle with “am I good enough”?

  121. This excerpt was powerful confirmation for me. I am going through a transitional period that has proven at times to be lonely. It involves a struggle of me knowing what God wants and need of me versus temptation to take the easy way out and give in. I know that battle ready would give me that additional daily dose of a reminder that God can, He will, and He is with me through it all.
